We have recently been awarded Arts Award Welcome status and we’re very excited about it! As an Arts Award Welcome organisation we are able to offer young people taking part in the Arts Award (whether at Bronze, Silver or Gold level) expertise, information, opportunities or resources linked to specific parts of the Award:
Taking part
Every Saturday the Drill Hall is taken over by Fishtank Youth Theatre: a drama group for 7-16 year olds. Our Drama Instructors are Arts Award advisers and can help young people work towards Bronze and Silver Awards. We also run summer schools and holiday workshops that may provide young people with the opportunity to fulfil the ‘Taking Part’ criteria of the Arts Award.
Enjoying and appreciating
We are pleased to be able to offer discounted tickets for many shows to any young person working towards an Arts Award.
Volunteering or work placement
We have lots of work experience applications every year and unfortunately it isn’t always possible to accommodate everyone. As part of our Arts Award Welcome Offer we are pleased to be able to offer priority placements to Arts Award candidates.
Meeting arts professionals
Many theatre companies, dance companies, and bands visit the Drill Hall each season and they all have stories to tell. If you’re studying for the Arts Award then it may be possible for us to arrange for you to meet a visiting act who can share some of their expertise and experience with you. There are also opportunities to pop in to the Drill Hall and have a chat with members of our team who will be more than happy to give you a first-hand account of working in an Arts Centre.
If you’re currently working towards your Award and want to take us up on our Welcome Offer then give the Audience Development Project Worker for LOV (Lincolnshire One Venues), Charlie Kemp, a call on (01522) 873891 or email charlie.kemp@leisureconnection.co.uk to find out more.
